Devices

The machines of Minetorio!

What Are They?

Devices are what machines are called in Minetorio. These can do various things from breaking blocks, placing blocks, crafting items, harvesting items, killing mobs, picking up drops and lot more. All devices have some base attributes in common with each other.

Input Slots

These are slots that devices can look for ingredients for their recipes or their actions. Devices will not overfill their input slots with items. The max stack size for input slots is 1/8 + 1. This prevents one input from taking all the space away from other ingredients and allows other machines to receive further down the factory line.

Output Slots

These are slots that devices can place their result items either from crafting or other actions. Devices don't stack outputs. So its important to have a way to clear the output slots, like with a mover!

Device Information

All devices typically have an Icon in it that will display information about the device. You should look to this to get an idea of whats going on, often this can tell you why a device isn't working.

πŸ“ Power Grids

All devices require some kind of power to work. In order to obtain power devices have to be within range of a Power Pylon or a device with a built in pylon. If your device isn't placed within a Power Pylon's range, it will show a plug icon above the device.

πŸ›  Active Power & πŸ”Œ Idle Power

Devices when performing their action, for example a crusher crushing cobblestone into sand. This will make the crusher use its active power. But when it has nothing to crush it will pull its idle power from the power grid instead.

⏰ Action Time

This is how long it takes for a device to perform its action. Some devices take longer to do their action then others.

☣ Pollution

Alot of devices produce pollution. Understand a better way to measure their pollution is pollution per second. Take the pollution it makes and divide that by its action time. A device with a 5 second action time and 5 pollution produces 1 pollution per second. Devices typically only create pollution when performing their action. So idle machines won't normally be polluting.

πŸ’§ Liquids

Some devices use liquids, you can normally see this in the device information, but the device itself shows it on its item too. Liquid is usually represented as a πŸ’§ icon. Unless its steam ♨ or Oil πŸ›’

⚑Power Generation

Some devices produce power, these devices will only work if they are in range of a power pylon. Producing power is useless without power lines to connect everything!

Device Icons

There are some device icons on all Minetorio device items & above devices. Below is a key to help you understand what they mean.

Icon
Icon Description

⚑

This is used to represent the power of a device. Depending on the context it can mean power usage or power production.

πŸ›

Represents the action power of a device. This is the power the device does when the device is working or rather when its performing its action.

πŸ”Œ

Represents the idle power of a device when looking at an device item. When floating above a device in the world, this means the device isn't connected to a power grid. (Place a Power Pylon nearby)

⏰

How long it takes to perform its actions. A timer of 1, means it performs its action once a second.

☣

The pollution a device generates. This is usually only produced when a device performs its action.

πŸ’§

This is for liquids water! There is some exceptions to this icon which are liquids but are listed here as well.

πŸ›’

Oil has a special icon despite being a liquid, this is to make it easier to tell what's going on.

♨

Steam has a special icon to, this is to help with getting new players use to working with liquids!

πŸ”₯

Heat can be made by some devices which can be used at a heat exchanger.

πŸ“

This is the pylon range icon. If this says 15, that means the pylon has a 15 block range to power devices in!

πŸ”¬

This is the research icon, it means by default the device makes 17 science per second. You need 100 for the research lab to consume its science packs to progress technology.

πŸ”‹

This is a battery icon! This represents the power a device can store in it. This can vary server to server.
